Jerry Smiley, AICP

Jerry Smiley joined LOPEZGARCIA GROUP in 1994 and is a certified planner with 17 years of experience in environmental and transportation planning. He currently serves as the transit market sector manager, leading business development efforts and contract execution, and as the interim environmental division manager, working with the environmental, planning, GIS and cultural resources staff on long-range planning and project management. He is the principal-in-charge of contracts with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), Metropolitan Transportation Authority of Harris County (METRO) and Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Capital Metro). In addition, he manages the business development and marketing efforts of the firm.
Jerry received his Master of Public Affairs and Master of Science, Environmental Science, from Indiana University, and his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington. Jerry founded the firm’s first internal leadership program, Pathway to Principal, which develops future shareholders of the firm. In 2007, he introduced the Leadership Development Program, a one year, more intensive program for employees to develop and discuss leadership skills and principles.
