Formed in 1988, the firm pursued engineering opportunities in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. One of the greatest opportunities available was affirmative action programs. These programs enabled small minority- and women-owned businesses to compete and win portions of large contracts.

The firm was successful in building the organization through diligent and persistent use of MBE/DBE/WBE programs. Through these opportunities, the firm gained experience and expertise as well as a strong reputation in the community. As a direct result of these programs, LOPEZGARCIA GROUP now offers its services as a prime on many projects and diligently pursues MBE/DBE/WBE firms to perform significant roles, routinely exceeding the requirements of federal, state and local guidelines.

It is part of the LOPEZGARCIA GROUP's mission to mentor other MBE/DBE/WBE firms and share the knowledge acquired during the early days. Company executives are active in programs such as the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce Women's Business Council, the National Association of Women Business Owners, Hispanic 100 and ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering) Mentor Program of DFW. Wendy Lopez, CEO, is also active in the North Texas Commission's Mentor-Entrepreneur Program, serving on the Steering Committee and acting as a Mentor for a small WBE architectural firm. LOPEZGARCIA GROUP also actively supports programs and initiatives spearheaded by client firms.
